ISHPSSB Conference 2009
ISHPSSB brings together scholars from diverse disciplines, including the life sciences as well as history, philosophy, and social studies of science. ISHPSSB summer meetings are known for innovative, transdisciplinary sessions, and for fostering informal, co-operative exchanges and on-going collaborations. After twenty-two years of steady growth ISHPSSB can claim to be the leading international meeting of its kind. Recent meetings in Exeter, in Guelph, Ontario, and in Vienna each attracted between four and five hundred participants from all parts of the world.
The 2009 conference is the first to be held in the southern hemisphere. The conference is hosted by the University of Sydney, Australia’s first university, but will take place at Emmanuel College, St Lucia, on the banks of the Brisbane River to take advantage of the mild winters of sub-tropical Queensland. The conference opens on the evening of Sunday July 12th and concludes on Thursday July 16th.
The city of Brisbane is located in the south east corner of Queensland, Australia’s second largest state and one of the world’s leading tourist destinations with attractions including the Great Barrier Reef offering unrivalled opportunities for pre- and post-conference touring.
We welcome delegates to the first Australian meeting of ISHPSSB
